Vata: Ether & Air
Vata dosha consist of the elements ether and air. Like air it is clear, light, dry and moving.

A typical body type for a person with a Vata constitution has a thin build, can look bony, the skin tends to be dry and the hair thin. As a Vata person you tend to be creative, spontaneous and have a fast working mind. Vata has the strongest influence on the nervous system, skin, bones, joints and the colon.
In balance you are creative, adaptable, cheerful and quick.When you are out of balance you can have a tendency to worry and feel anxious, have constipation, cold hands and feet, dry skin and dry joints.
To keep you happy, it is important to create a routine in your daily life, eat grounding and warming foods, keep your body warm and exercise in moderation, using grounding and calming practices that allow your nervous system to relax and your body to move fluidly in a calm pace.

In balance you are charismatic and warm, focused and goals oriented and you can be a good leader.
When there is too much heat as a Pitta person you can burn yourself out physically and mentally. Physically this can show as skin rashes or acne that spreads, stomach problems, acid reflux and too much heat in organs like the liver, small intestines and endocrine system. In your behaviour it can show up as being sharp and hot tempered, overly critical or goal oriented, inflexible.

Kapha creates all structures and cohesion in the body, like the bones and body tissue.
In balance as a person with a Kapha constitution you are loving, supportive, nurturing and steady. You are more slow than a Vata or Pitta person, but steady and you get things done in a continues steady pase.
When you are out of balance you can have a tendency to become lethargic and congested. Physically this can show up in colds asthma, obesity, diabetes and congestion. In behaviour it can show up as being depressed and lethargic, uninspired and stubborn.
To keep you happy it is important to get enough vigorous exercise and have a generally active lifestyle with plenty of variation in your daily routine. Avoid over sleeping or taking naps, eating heavy meals that are fatty, sitting a lot and repeating the same routine every day.
